Undergraduate Advising Center

Appitizers and Advisors

 August 21st, 2015 2-5pm

“Appetizers and Advisors” will be an opportunity for incoming students to meet academic advisors, learn about campus resources (including, but not limited to: AAAC, UAC, CAPS, ISS, LSS, OMA, UCC, SES-TRIO, Student Money Management, Writing Center), and address academic and enrollment issues/concerns before the first day of class on August 24th. The event will also promote UNIV 101: Orientation Seminar, as several UNIV 101 instructors will be attending the event.

In addition, the UAC will also be operating an “advising station”, were students can talk privately with an advisor as needed for sensitive issues, and provide an advising syllabus designed to educate students on what to expect and how to prepare for advising appointments.

“Appetizers and Advisors” complements, and immediately follows (in the same space at the Kansas Union) the event “Walk the Walkway” [held from 10am-3pm]. “Walk the Walkway” will be similar as the aforementioned, but with less advisors present—and the absence of appetizers.
